Majored in Hydrology and Engineering Geology at the original Beijing College of Geology, graduating in 1966.


Work Experience and Achievements

Professor Wang Hengjun was engaged in scientific research and worked in teaching and administrating scientific research for about ten years. She has worked in editing since 1980.

Now, Professor Wang is a Deputy of the Ninth National People's Congress of China and also the Editor in Chief of Earth Science and Journal of China University of Geosciences. In 1994, she accepted the invitation of the International Petroleum and Geological Deliberation Conference, and discussed with American publishing circles about the international exchange and cooperation of Chinese and English versions of Earth Science-Journal of China University of Geosciences.

In 1999, accepting the invitation of Elsevier Science BV, she visited the largest publishing house of the world and discussed with professor Bernard Aleva, the president of Elsevier, on cooperative publication and distribution of Journal of China University of Geosciences.

Professor Wang was elected to the representative of the non-government tribune of the Fourth World's Woman Conference in 1995. She gave lectures on "Editorial Engineering" and "the Edition of Science-Technology and Standard of Edition."

Her major research results are Editorial System Engineering, the Specification of the Edition of Science-Technology Periodical of Geology and Geological Scientific Thinking. Her works include The Editing and Writing of Science and Technology, Mathematical Model of Thermal and Chemical Transport in Geological Media and Geological Scientific Thinking. She has published over ten treatises, including The Research of Editorial Engineering, The Judgment on the Quality of University Journals and A Discussion of Editorial Duty. Five of them were given the second prize of outstanding treatise by the Science and Technology Departments of the National Education Committee and the Provincial Science Society.

The Journal of "Earth Science," which is under her guidance, has won twenty kinds of national and provincial prizes, and is listed and abstracted by many well-known international index systems, such as GeoRef, EI, CA, CBST (Japan), and PЖ (Russia). It is one of the core periodicals of natural sciences in China, listed at No. 5. It was awarded the title of "The Best Periodical of Hubei Province," and won first prize in the Second National Superior Scientific Journal Competition which is the most important prize for scientific journals in China, and which is carried out every 5 years.

Professor Wang was conferred the title of "National and Provincial Excellent Editor." In 1996, she won the government allowance issued by the State Council for special contributions in the scientific and technological fields; and in 1999, she was awarded the title of "National Advanced Woman Worker" by the National Label Union of China.
