About Our Journals...
There are two entirely separate geological journals published by China
University of Geosciences. Earth Science is published six times a year, and is
in Chinese. JES is bimonthly, in English.
About: Earth Science
Earth Science - Journal of China University of Geosciences started
in 1957. It is a geological journal published bimonthly in Chinese with English
abstracts. The journal promotes the dissemination of information, on all
branches of geology and associated technology, in the exploration and
utilization of earth resources. It reports essential research findings and
original academic thought for sustainable developments. The scope of articles
includes stratigraphy, paleontology, petrology, mineralogy, structure geology,
geochemistry, planetary science, cosmocheistry, applied geophysics, earth resource sciences, environmental
science and geotechnics, geomechanics, exploration and construction
engineering, mathematical geology and remote-sensing techniques, computer
sciences and information engineering, and other relevant new theories, methods
and discoveries, as well as recent achievements in geosciences and timely
reviews on selected subjects.
According to the citation analyses (citation rates and factors) from CSCI (SCI
of China), Earth Science is a key journal among Chinese
geological journals (occupying 5th place), natural scientific periodicals (51st
place), and university journals (1st place). It is indexed and abstracted by
international Engineering Index (EI), Chemical Abstract (CA), Abstracts Journal
(PЖ), Current Bibliography on Sciences and Technology (CBST), GeoRef and
GeoBas, and so on. Additionally, the journal has received many awards from
Hubei Province, the Ministry of Land and Resources, and the Ministry of
Education, as well as the state government for the high quality of its academic
publications. In March, 1997, Earth Science won the prestigious
first prize of the Second National Superior Scientific Journal Prize, which is
the most important prize in China for scientific journals, the selection of
which is carried out every 5 years. Currently, long-term exchange relationships
have been established between the Editorial Department and 156 overseas
publication houses and academic organizations.

Named
Journal of China University of Geosciences, now renamed Journal
of Earth Science
since 2009, was started in 1990. JES is a bimonthly
publication in English. Its counterpart, Earth
Science, is in Chinese. The
English journal was created to foster the international exchange of
ideas and to promote teaching and research in English within
China
. JES
is a geological journal published by the China
University of Geosciences for the dissemination of
information, in all branches of geology and associated technology,
about current research in the exploration and utilization of earth
resources. It reports essential research findings and original
academic thought, and promotes sustainable developments in the
fields of geology. |
The scope of
articles in JES includes stratigraphy, paleontology,
petrology, mineralogy, structural geology, geochemistry, applied
geophysics, earth resources sciences, environmental science and
geotechnics, geomechanics, exploration and construction engineering,
mathematical geology and remote-sensing techniques, computer sciences and
information engineering, and other relevant new theories, methods and
discoveries, as well as recent achievements in geosciences and timely
reviews on selected subjects. Articles
are welcome from both domestic and
overseas scientists on related subjects.
According
to citation analyses in
China
(citation rates and
factors),JES is a key journal among geological and
university journals. At present, JES is listed or abstracted
in Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-E), Chemical
Abstracts (CA), Abstracts Journal (
Russia
)
(PЖ), Petroleum Abstract (PA), Cambridge Scientific Abstracts (CSA),
Zoological Record (ZR) and so on. JES has been awarded many
times by the state government of
China
for the high academic
quality of its publications. In 1999, JES won the National
Superior Scientific University Journal Prize from the Ministry of
Education of
China
