The continental margins of East and Southeast Asia comprise diverse sedimentary environments and landform systems that record the complex interplay between tectonics, oceanography, and climate. These areas are increasingly affected by sea-level fluctuations, hydrodynamic conditions, and sediment flux affected by both climate change and human activities. This special issue aims to compile a collection of novel research findings and insights related to the sedimentary processes, geomorphological features, and climate change impacts along the continental margins of East and Southeast Asia.

We welcome contributions addressing a wide spectrum of themes including marine geology, sedimentology and geomorphology across various temporal and spatial scales. Studies examining sedimentary characteristics (depositional patterns, sediment provenance, transport mechanisms, stratigraphic architecture) and geomorphological aspects (coastal landform development, beach morphodynamics, submarine canyon evolution, delta evolution) are particularly encouraged, especially studies that connect these phenomena to climate impacts.

The Journal of Earth Science (Springer, IF 4.7) is pleased to invite authors to contribute manuscripts to a Special Issue titled Continental Margins of East and Southeast Asia: Sedimentology, Geomorphology, and Climate change. The issue welcomes studies employing various methodologies, including geochemical analyses, sediment core investigations, remote sensing applications, geophysical surveys, and numerical modeling. We also welcome interdisciplinary approaches that bridge traditional boundaries, connecting sedimentological and geomorphological findings with insights from oceanography, marine ecology, coastal engineering. Papers can be submitted to this Special Issue anytime on or before 31 December, 2025. Accepted papers will be published online as open access, and APC (Article Processing Charges) will be charged. All papers will then be published together in a single issue of the Journal of Earth Science

Author guidelines: We call for all manuscript types including original research reports, reviews (subject to pre-approval), and shorter research notes (the number of research notes will be very limited and so must be quite innovative for consideration). Please consult the Journal of Earth Science website for specific details pertaining to formatting requirements and other instructions for authors: https://www.springer.com/journal/12583/submission-guidelines

Deadline for manuscript submission: 31 December, 2025

Completion of the first-round review: 1 April, 2026

Deadline for revised manuscripts: 15 May, 2026

Completion of the review and revision process: 1 July, 2026

Possible date for publication: August 2026

Manuscripts should be submitted online at https://mc03.manuscriptcentral.com/jes
